Abstract
The Boston Police Department, in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police, is attempting to reduce their DNA backlog with a grant that has been received from the National Institute of Justice. This grant has been used to review over 1,000 “No Suspect” homicide and sexual assault cases, and to determine which cases needed DNA testing performed. The main objective for these laboratories was to reduce their DNA backlog and to obtain genetic profiles to enter into CODIS.
