Abstract
The arena of health policy is always evolving as the players in it evolve. One of the main players is the AMA. This paper takes an in depth look at how the evolution of the AMA has affected health system reform in the United States by examining two story lines of separate attempts at health care reform. Through comparative analysis, conclusions are made as to how the AMA has transformed and positioned itself in a new role within health policy formulation and implementation.
